Melissa Reed - "Everyone Makes Music: Tips, Tricks, and To-Do's for Teaching Diverse Learners in the Music Classroom"

This interactive Workshop will provide information about strategies, techniques, and resources applicable to teaching music to diverse learners. All activities will be kid-tested and appropriate to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. Please bring your recorders!

TTOSA Chapter Share Workshop

Come learn from fellow music educators as they share tried-and-true songs, activities, and resources! This is an excellent opportunity to share the wonderful things happening in your classroom while networking with colleagues from across the Twin Tiers. Emily Phillips - "Together in Harmony: Finding a Place for Every Student"

Location: Room 163, Butler Music Center, Mansfield University

Sometimes a small change can make a big difference. In this workshop, we'll explore different ways to challenge students at all ability levels within classroom ensembles. We'll be incorporating recorder, barred instruments, classroom percussion, movement, and more!

 

Workshop Information

Time: All Saturday workshops are held from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Registration and refreshments begin at 8:30am. There will be a 15-minute break approximately halfway through the workshop.


Location: Unless otherwise specified, workshops are located in Mansfield University's Butler Music Center (18 Campus View Drive, Mansfield, PA 16933). Please see individual workshop descriptions for the specific room within the music center. 


Who Should Come?: Music teachers, classroom teachers, music therapists, and college students in the field of education are welcome to come to our workshops! You do not need to be a member of TTOSA or AOSA, nor do you need any prior training in Orff-Schulwerk in order to participate. Pre-registration for workshops is not necessary.


In-Service Credit: Workshop attendees are eligible for 4 hours of in-service credit. Attendees must be present for the entire workshop (arriving no later than 9:00am and leaving no earlier than 1:00pm) and specify on the sign-in sheet that they are seeking in-service credit. Signed certificates will be available at the completion of the workshop. Be sure to check with your district's guidelines for the submission of in-service credit.


CTLE Credit (New York state teachers only): TTOSA, in partnership with the Schuyler-Chemung-Tioga/Corning Teacher Center, is an approved sponsor of CTLE programming. If you are a New York state teacher with professional certification, TTOSA workshops count towards your 100 hour requirement.


Other Info: Wear clothes that are comfortable for movement and bring a recorder!

 

Workshop Fees

The following fees are for workshop attendees who are not local members of TTOSA. 

  • Professional: $35
  • Student: $10 (Mansfield University students attend for free)
  • Members of Other AOSA Local Chapters: $10

The cost of local membership in TTOSA includes all workshops!

You may register in person at any TTOSA workshop, by mail, or via online form. Please be advised that we currently do not accept online payment for workshop and membership registration fees.
